Ceramic Diner Mug

I ordered these as I was looking for something that wasn't cutesy. These hit the mark! Very classic and nostalgic. Perfect weight. Great cup of coffee!! A couple of the cups had slight blue blemishes, most likely from the blue "Coletti" ink n mark on the bottom, but these "blemishes" actually give the cup a little character, not a flaw necessarily, but more of a humble and warm feeling. Can't wait to use them for an upcoming ladies brunch!!

This mug is perfection. The cream colour and the weight are awesome. This is the kind of mug that is great for coffee, but also will handle a british builders brew. I feel it would be pretty comforting for a hot chocolate.

This is the way all coffee mugs should be made. Very robust and made to last. Reminds me of the coffee mugs used to drink from the old time diners. Highly recommend these.

UPDATED 7/10/2019. I ordered another set of these mugs. They were cheaper than the first ones I purchased, but are also slightly different. They are not quite as thick-walled. They are still nice, but I prefer the thicker ones. I would probably take a half-star off my rating for these. When I was a kid, diners used to serve coffee in very thick cups (I think they only held six or eight ounces). I have looked for ones like I remember for years but to no avail. I have some mugs similar to these (sometimes described as “retro design” or "classic diner mugs") that are thicker than the typical mug. I got these because from what I could tell from the pictures they were even thicker than the ones I’ve been using. I was delighted to find that they indeed are (maybe a third thicker). They arrived well-packaged in a sturdy cardboard box with dividers, individually wrapped in bubble wrap. In other words, none of them were broken. I wish they were somewhat smaller, but on the other hand they do hold a good amount of coffee and the size would be good if I were having something like soup in a mug. I have no idea how well they will hold up in the dishwasher; I’m guessing they will do just fine. They are a just little pricey but worth it because of the thickness. Overall, I’m well pleased with the purchase. These will be replacing my other mugs, I think.

Using my normal brew this morning, but out of my newly-arrived coffeemug, my tastebuds were instantly and pleasantly transported back 50 years! Unlike a "modern" uber-engineered, space-age-material containers, this old-school ceramic mug warms the hands as well as the heart on a chilly morning. The perfectly curved rim virtually kisses your lips without drip each sip. The handle moulds comfortably to the fingers, and the mug balances perfectly to the last drop without contortionist tiltback! Graceful, nostalgic. Ahhhh...

Can't beat this filled with a hot cup of Java on a cool morning! This is one of those little pleasures in life that help get your day off to a good start!
